Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command arrested one Sunday Nwankwo and two employees of an oil and gas merchant, Aguizu Chukwu, 19, and Tunde Olaewo, 21, for allegedly planning to kidnap their boss, one Solomon Otungo, in the Ejigbo area of the state in 2019. The state Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Mu’azu, said that the command mobilised operatives to arrest the suspects at their meeting point, after it received credible intelligence about the alleged plan to kidnap the oil and gas merchant. The suspects confessed to the crime and said they would have demanded a ransom of N60m from Otungo if their plan had succeeded. Mu’azu said, “The police received credible intelligence report that some newly-employed workers of one Solomon Otungo, an oil and gas merchant in the Bucknor area of Ejigbo, Lagos, were holding nocturnal meetings on how they would kidnap and keep their employer incommunicado until a ransom of N60m was paid.

The £4.2 million recovered from the former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, has been paid to the Delta State Government, the Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, said on Tuesday. The fund, which the federal government recently received from the United Kingdom, is part of the proceeds of crime seized from the ex-governor. Mr Idris stated this while appearing before the committee investigating the status of recovered loot. He stated that “all recovered funds that belong to the respective states are paid directly to the states”. “Some recoveries are for state governments, I know there was a time recovery were made on behalf of Plateau State, there was one for Bayelsa, even Delta, such recoveries go to those states,” he stated. 13 abducted persons rescued by Army after heated gun battle in Kaduna Troops have rescued of 13 kidnapped persons from bandits in Gwagwada, Chikun local government area of Kaduna State. The State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, May 5, said the 13 citizens, originally from Dutse, went to work at a farm called Tanadi Farm, which is located around Bakin Kasuwa in Gwagwada general area of Chikun LGA. Unknown gunmen kill 12 cows in Akwa Ibom as herdsmen flee Some unidentified Gunmen have attacked Fulani Herdsmen violating the ban on open grazing in Essien Udim Local Government Akwa Ibom state. The Gunmen on motorbikes defiled the curfew put in place by the state government to carry out the attack, early Sunday Morning, which resulted in the death of atleast 12 cows, while the Fulani herders took to their heels.
